I know what you’re going through. I’ve been there.

I’m a journalist by profession, with more than a decade writing for titles including Woman & Home, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Practical Parenting, Mother & Baby and BBC Good Homes. Writing at that level turned out to be the perfect training for teaching children to write, and it’s why Geek School has a system that ignites passion and creativity in every young writer.

I’m also a mum of two. Both my children sat and passed grammar and top independent school exams, and both attend one of the best independent schools in the UK. I’ve walked this road twice, so I know exactly how it feels.

My courses cut through the jargon to bring equality of choice to education, and my research helps parents demystify the 11 Plus. I started Mothers Who Work in 2007, founded Geek School in 2014, and along the way served as a rep for the National Union of Journalists. I hold a BSc in Psychology, a Diploma in Teaching, PTLLS and an MA in Education, and above everything, I’m a child of God.

If I’m one thing, I am definitely and always will be the girl who likes to play with words.

my son was just two years old…

It started with stories on the train.

Back then I was editing employment law journals at one of the UK’s biggest business publishers, and my son was still small. On my commute I kept hearing the same horror stories. Mums whose bosses wouldn’t let them go to antenatal appointments. Meetings booked at times designed to stop them leaving on time.

I knew the law, and I knew they deserved better. So in 2007 I set up Mothers Who Work to help working mums navigate employment law, business and work. Today it’s also home to the MWW Club and the online Level 3 Delivering Training.
